Poultry Meat Training Initiative
Following feedback from Assured Chicken Production that lack of training and training records were the biggest non-compliance found during their audits, the representatives from the chicken meat industry decided to form a working group to resolve this issue.
The working group was made up of representatives from all the large national chicken processors and growers as well as Lantra (the Sector Skills Council for the Land-based sector), The British Poultry Council, National Farmers Union and Poultec Training (An independent poultry training specialist and National Skills Academy for meat and poultry).
The group decided that minimum training standards were required for the industry and these would be specific to job roles.
About poultrypassport.org
The poultry passport system is a secure on-line training recording system available to companies and individuals in the poultry sector. The poultry passport allows the user to have instant access to their records, which are fully maintained and updated on their behalf, on a continual basis.
To ensure validity, all training records are verified and inputted by an independent administrator from Poultec Training.
The administrator can visit the company and in the case of a large employer, input records or they can be posted, in the case of small numbers or additional updates, once the bulk of the information is recorded.
